TGIF (Tying Gifts Is Festive)**

My Weekly Friday Message 12/21/2018

**Courtesy of Melinda Mawson. She answered my call and sent me a list of about 20 TGIF's; nicely done Melinda!!

Dear Stellar Families,

The last school week of the year 2018 just wrapped. We are all off to celebrate in our own ways. Mine will involve a LOT of sleeping and trying to get caught up on the pile of reading for fun that I have stacked on my nightstand.(Robert Galbraith # 3 & # 4 for starters)

Crazy Day - was .... well,  crazy!!! Props to those in full on costumes!! I didn't hear/see any singing socks, but there was a Grumpy Cat Christmas Onesie spotted in the Middle School!! There were sweaters that lit up and there was a plethora of head gear by way of hats and headbands. All in all, we were one of the happiest of places on Thursday! Additionally, there was a photo booth set up in Ms. Taylor's classroom. Nice one! We had an overall participation of 96% including staff. That is all kinds of awesome!

Because of Winn-Dixie party: food, fun, movie.... so good. Pictures of the food is included below...

Updates:

The envelopes for the walk-a-thon went home this week. Start talking it up with friends, family and neighbors!! The whole school is participating in the event. It is going to be on Friday, January 18 from 1:00 - 2:30. Plan on coming to cheer on the walkers and/or come and volunteer some time handing out water and marking their lap sheets!!! It's going to be fun!

It is almost tax season. I have attached information that may be helpful to many of you.

Student Council: Has decided upon their service project. They are going to raise money for a local animal shelter. At this juncture, we are going to focus on homeless and the most needy of animals. After the new year, we will start collecting: wet/dry food, collars/leashes, medicine, bedding and toys. We are still discussing how to raise the money and the supplies, so stay tuned. I'm so very proud of them. And I also heard rumblings of planning their eighth grade trip for next year. Stay tuned...

Please note the our school will be closed for the next 2 weeks. I will be monitoring email and should you need to meet with me, I can be available by appointment.

May the season envelop you in warmth and love of friends and family. Please take the next 2 weeks to recognize joy in its many forms.
