Our School

Navigating school is hard enough without a language disability; that’s where Stellar comes in. Stellar Academy provides alternative instruction to meet the needs of children who suffer with symptoms of dyslexia. Our specialized, multi-sensory approach has been proven to improve student performance in language arts and increase their confidence in and out of the classroom.

Since 1988, we have been helping students unlock the door of language and literacy. Utilizing the internationally renowned Slingerland approach, we teach students strategies to navigate their language weaknesses and nurture their strengths to increase confidence and classroom success. This methodology is a simultaneous, multi-sensory, structured approach for teaching language arts to dyslexic students in the classroom. We are dedicated to seeing your child succeed in language acquisition and become a productive citizen of our community.

Stellar Academy is an independent, non-profit school for students with symptoms of dyslexia. We serve families across the Bay Area with full day and part-day instruction, summer camp, tutoring, and specialized testing. If we can help your family overcome the challenges of dyslexia, please give us a call.

A Letter from our Director

Thank you for your interest in Stellar Academy. We are thrilled to have been a part of hundreds of children’s language successes since 1988, and we look forward to many more years to come!

Using our multi-sensory, success-oriented approach to language, our students are overcoming the challenges of dyslexia, realizing academic achievement, and returning to the regular school classroom as leaders! Because of our dedicated staff and proven approach, we are rebuilding students' self-esteem by showing them they can learn, they are smart, and they can be successful in school.

At Stellar, we know your children have the potential to become future inventors, successful business executives, teachers, doctors, firefighters, artists, or anything else they choose. Our job is simply to unlock the door.

I hope you take some time to get to know our school. We would love to partner with your family in this journey called education.

Sincerely,

Beth Mattsson-Boze

New California Dyslexia Law Signed by Governor Brown

Did you know that dyslexia impacts approximately 20% of the overall population? According to this information, over one million students in California public schools deal with dyslexia. However, through the efforts of the dyslexic community and those in government, Governor Jerry Brown just signed AB 1369 in to law. “AB 1369 will allow proper identification and appropriate evidence-based remediation for dyslexic students. This is an important first step in getting our kids the help they need to learn to read, write, and spell at grade-level and experience educational success,” stated Tobie Meyer, Decoding Dyslexia CA Lead Legislative Member.
