TGIF (Thank Goodness It's Fall)
My Friday weekly message 9/18/20
Dear Team Stellar,
Do any of you work for PayPal or know someone there? There is an up to 10K tech grant (Tech For Good) that employees can nominate to support nonprofits and/or a school - both of which we are. Nominations close Oct. 8.
Tech Update: Parents, if you can get a long-enough ethernet cable, your student can get better connectivity if you can plug directly into your wi-fi router.
Examples of converter cables to search for online include:
USB Ethernet (LAN) Network Adapter Compatible for MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, Laptop, Computers and All USB 2.0
Ethernet LAN Wired Network Adapter,3 in 1 Wired Ethernet and USB 3 Camera Adapter and Charger Port Compatible with iPhone/iPad, etc.
We had our first birthday this week! Many happy returns to Jay!!! He is now 9. Wow. You go Jay!! The theme for his special day was "Green and Roblox." There was some singing and laughter during his Social Studies block on Monday. (Was originally scheduled for last Friday, but you all know how THAT day turned out...)
LAST CALL FOR FIRST DAY/WEEK OF SCHOOL PICS! Are there any more first day/week of school pics? Please send them to me. I am working on a little surprise... Reply to this email with your pics perhaps? NOT reply all.... :D
Student Council: Congratulations to: Sydney H., Maddie S., Ruby U., Lizeth RS and Nyle A.!! Our first meeting is next week. Watch your email for an invite from me! **SPOILER ALERT** Tuesday. 9/22 at noon already sent.
Speaking of school pictures: Early next week we will be sending out an order form for 2020/2021 school pictures. Recall that W 9/30 is school picture day during the pick-up and drop off of SIP tools for the next month. If there are questions about the form or the process, call or email our intrepid Office Manager, Brenda, the keeper of all the things. She should be able to answer your queries.
About coming back to school in person: We have applied for an exemption. This only means that if, and only IF, Alameda County comes off the naughty list and gets put on the nice list for 2 weeks AND we pass the screening AND the county opens up THEN we will have discussions about moving forward. For me it's all about having options. I, like most teachers, am a control freak. It makes me NUTS not to have any options. The vast majority of you voted for 100% return to school, when we can. Thanks for taking the time to fill out the survey.
Attached below you will find our student directory. It includes students names, parents names and emails as well as our staff emails. Use it in good health.
Also attached, as a follow up to my Tuesday email, is the information for our annual Wax Museum event. We made it a fillable PDF - thanks to Andy's mom!!! (Sylvia)
