Dear Team Stellar,
It was LOVELY to see all of you on Wednesday and those of you that logged in for our Coffee Chat on Thursday morning! I was really glad that we had great weather for Wednesday's pick up and drop off. Thanks to all of you for your kind words and cheerful support. We are pretty isolated out here, so your happiness reminded us about why we do what we do. I'd also like to send out a GINORMOUS thank you to our volunteers: Maria and Sharon. It was hot and you were troopers (troupers?)!!!! Thanks so much.
As a direct result of the Coffee Chat, I sent out a volunteers needed survey form. Traditionally, parents get a similar form at Back to School Night to fill out. Well, our Back to School Night was not traditional. So this year, you are getting an online survey. Please take the time to fill out the 45 second survey. We are grateful for your insights.
To date there are no updates on our exemption application. We are still (emotionally) aiming for direct instruction to start in January, but... NO ONE knows... Recall that we are going to evaluate trimester by trimester. Tri 1 finishes the first week in December, so.... we shall see. Alameda County came off of the 'naughty list' last week and is now on the 'not as naughty' list... for how long remains to be seen. If we can keep it up, the limitations and restrictions for our return may be relaxed as well.
I have attached the letter from the Superintendent of Schools about Alameda County's phased reopening. (The attchment with all the numbers.) In the coming weeks, you will hear of schools opening and of schools closing again. We are going to watch and learn. The risks are real and I'm not a gambler.***
I have added the flier for "Voices of Compassion" an event sponsored by the CHC (and on a smaller scale Stellar also helped sponsor.) It looks to be interesting and it is free, so... there's that. At one of the many Zoom meetings that I attend, there was a lot of chatter about this one, so I thought I would pass it on to you. They are an exceptional organization.
