TGIF (Traveling Ghouls Instigate Fear)
My Weekly Friday Message 1/31/2020
Dear Stellar Families,
Take a quick look at the last day of January. Tomorrow is February...(!!!)
Our week at Stellar was relatively quiet. Please note: there seems to be a 'bug' of some sort going around, so please take extra care of yourselves. You are all needed, wanted and loved. Wash your hands, drink plenty of fluids.... you know the drill.
After school care: Please let Brenda know if you are expecting after school care no later than noon of that day.. It can be difficult to comply with last minute requests. Thank you.
The following is some repeat information, because, as crazy as it sounds, not everyone reads my weekly email and I put some pretty important stuff out last week that I want to be sure everyone knows about.
From the Student Council: The next spirit day is Wednesday, Feb. 5. It will be the Annual Crazy Hair Day!! Wigs are allowed. This is a classroom vs classroom participation competition. Start thinking about it now 'cuz the night before is TOO late!!!
Parent event. Maria Islas (parent) and Kim Scott (board member and parent) are hosting another family information meeting and have arranged for a DREDF (Disabilities Rights Education & Defense Fund) Advocate to come and talk with all who are interested. The focus will primarily be 504's and IEP's. This informational meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 12 at 9:30 am and will be held in the Fellowship Hall. Please fill out the invitation to let us know if you are planning on attending so that we can be prepared for you. Here it is again. parent meeting
I need several volunteers to man stations at our Annual Walk-a-Thon on Friday, Feb. 14 from 1:00 - 2:30. Please let me know if I can count you among the throngs of volunteers. Thanks in advance... :D
If you are planning on participating in the Dyslexia Simulation that we are hosting on Saturday, February 22, you need to be sure and RSVP with Mrs. Huckaby in our office. The event is limited to 50 people and we need to be able to offer a worthwhile experience to all participants. All current families may attend for free. If you have friends and neighbors that are interested, please have them register at: Link to event. This is the best way, that I know of, to try and explain your child's educational challenges to others. Live it for just a couple of hours. Lunch is provided.
Summer Camp: Stellar does not currently have a venue for Summer Camp 2020, as our lease with Cedars Church expires in June. Thus the school may not run a summer camp this year. In the event that Stellar does not run a summer camp, another option parents may consider is Valley Christian, which hosts a summer camp as Slingerland training for teachers. Registering with Valley Christian involves an application and an interview process. The dates are: July 8 - 31, 2020. 9:00 am - 12:00 pm and afternoon care is available upon request. For those that are interested, the application is attached below. Note: this is only an option for current grades 2 - 7.
*** More calendar information: It seems that, last year, while creating this year's calendar, I incorrectly made Friday, April 10 a minimum day. It should be marked as the first day of Spring Break. There will be no school on Friday, April 10, 2020. I have updated our website calendar to reflect this new information and will continue to highlight this in my weekly email. We mirror the FUSD calendar as much as possible and I simply missed it. The error was mine; my apologies.
